Steve 'Miggedy' Maestro was born & raised
by a family that loves music & in a city that does the same. Picking up
guitar @ five, Steve's interest was piqued in every aspect of music,
from records, equipment as well as singing & dancing. Fast-forward to
1992. Through a mixshow contest, Steve was hired by Elroy R.C.
Smith, then PD of
WGCI to do mixes alongside Mike Dunn. Tapping into the culture
of Chicago old school R&B & House Music, Steve & Armando Rivera
commandeered "Club 107.5" to #1 on Friday nights for 6 years until it
was discontinued. Never one to rest, 'Miggedy' began doing mixes for Tom Joyner
Morning Show& worked on remixes w/Steve 'Silk' Hurley as well
as being syndicated through SuperRadio,
which boasts +75 stations.
All the while mixing for radio, Steve made time to produce tracks for
local artists. His break came through working with Michele Laws,
daughter of famed saxophone artist Ronnie Laws. Their progressive work
is featured on Ronnie Laws CD "Everlasting", which includes "I'll Be
Leavin' ", "If You Ain't Busy" & "Keep On Movin' ". Look for more of
BRIO! (Michele & Steve's) work to be featured on her brother's debut,
Jaman Laws as well as Michele's solo debut.
Currently, Steve is enjoying his re-birth now as a producer. DJ
Raphael & DJ Pierre (from The Lick & Club D'Elegance
respectively) have both proclaimed "Step Into The A.M." (Play a
Sample Below), "Brazillian Nights" & "On To Something Good" to
be the hottest stepping cuts in Chicago. The CD "Classics From The
Future, Vol.1" will feature "grown-up sophisticated songs that can
rumble in the club and your car" and is available at his website.
