It's a big get no question about it...

I got permission to let the cat out of the bag (so
to speak). The not to coincidental thing is I just put her on as one
of the Steppers Song of The Day artists the other day.
Maysa Leak has just signed on to be the featured artist
along with Slique,
Cardell, and Jabari
Grover for the 2012 edition of
Stepaganza.
Maysa is a major get for the
Memorial Day weekend party in St. Louis. The former singer with
Incognito has been in the game for a while and has been seen on The
Oprah Winfrey Show, Soul Train and The Tonight Show and has a major
presence in the steppers community with a number of songs which can
be stepped to.
A little while ago I was on the radio with Big John Nance of
WSNR.US and the
president of Word of Mouth Entertainment Iary Israel (Kat in Tha
Hat) making the announcement about Maysa signing on. It's fantastic
when our genre can get top, mainstream artists for our events. This
can mean exposure for stepping to a larger audience than the usual
"insiders game" as long as the promoters are willing to put the word
out there. More Below
As a follow up to my prior article
about the
Chicago's Largest Steppers Contest weekend in October, you can
now buy tickets for the Main event online right here at SteppersUSA.
This weekend is being sponsored by Snoop Dogg's entertainment
company and it's the first time the contest has become a complete
weekend affair complete with a pre-party, workshops, and a closeout
party.
Do you see a theme here? Yet another mainstream name is getting
involved in the steppers game. Our promoters need to use these
opportunities to broaden the reach of our dance to touch the general
population. It can't stay an "insider's game" because it just isn't
healthy for the dance and its future. These are things promoters do
that party planners can't. They are bringing the game to another
level by raising the bar.
Some steppers radio milestones...
#steppersbeatcolumn
It's time for steppers radio trivia! Can you hear the fanfare in the
background? You know the one from fractured fables on the Rocky and
Bullwinkle show?
Today marks DJ Shorty Smooth's one year anniversary on internet
radio is today. He's been on a few stations and has settled for his
own brand in the end with Oh So Smooth Radio.
He has the station streaming 24/7 and is building a stable of jocks
which include Black Cool Thornton and DJ Cross from Chicago. I built
them a new HTML5 streaming audio player that works in a separate
window so when you browse the web on your computer you can listen to
the live stream uninterrupted.
The player works on standards compliant devices including smart
phones, as well as tablet devices so you can take the streaming
internet station with you wherever you go.
Now, cue the second fanfare... Also in February... specifically on
next Tuesday the 28th WSNR.US will be celebrating their 1 year
anniversary at Sweet Geogia Brown in Country Club Hills IL.
According to what I'm reading, they will be broadcasting live on
location and many of the stations DJ's will be there for the
celebration.
In the case of both stations and all of the DJ's I wish all of you
continued success in your efforts to give us listening choices. With
so much music to step to out there it's really amazing more stations
haven't appeared before these stations and ClubSteppin.Com. Continued
