Friday night Club Dyamonds couldn't get any more packed. As a matter of fact by about eight there wasn’t a seat left (I know it's not the largest club) people wanted to see a good contest and you know what, that's what they got including a tie and a dance-off between Rado and Sherry and Keisha and Tatiana in a battle for third place. Rado dazzled the crowd with footwork like a man possessed but the chemistry between Eric and Tatiana was obviously enough to earn the couple second place.
First place was won by Nikke and Torey. Nikke has an unorthodox dance style and every move he put down Torey countered and upped the ante. I personally believe it really was Torey's dancing skills that wowed the judges and won the contest for the couple. the contest was a nice warm-up for some who are getting into the World's Largest this year. I'll have the 2-Disc DVD of the contest done in very short order
DJ Eric E.T. Taylor made the "major announcement" to the crowd that he managed to keep under his hat for several after warming people up on Facebook. Eric is now a regular V-103 FM mixmaster who will be spinning steppers music Monday through Thursday at 7:45 on the Real show with Ramonski Luv and Joe Soto.

I also understand another DJ from J.E.P. Phil Good just completed a mix for Lamont Watts and his internet steppers radio station ClubSteppin.Com. Lamont has always given steppers DJ's the opportunity to show off their talents to the public as a matter of fact if I remember correctly, I think he made the offer to DJ Cross too.
The Steppers Weekend Roundup
In New York City they're having the second annual weekend Steppers Party where they will be stepping in Central Park in the afternoon and having a Steppers Ball today in Manhattan. Last year I understand stepping in Central Park was drawing a crowd. If Chicago can have Stepping under the Picasso every month why not stepping in Central Park! (Perhaps other big cities should follow the lead and give the dance a bit more exposure to a wider audience).
In Cincinnati they are having the big Jazz festival weekend and there and the Cincinnati Elegant Steppers are doing a weekend event to compliment the Jazz Festival.
The Music City Steppers are having a Student appreciation weekend event in Nashville and the main event is tonight.
In Orlando, the Orlando Steppers Connection and Stylistic Steppers are having an All White Affair Weekend with the semi-finals for the World Largest Steppers Contest.
In Chicago After 7 Productions is at The Dorchester and Diana Haywood is celebrating her birthday at the Reynolds.
There are two weeks (14 days) until National Chicago Style Steppers Day. Many of the cities have already told me where they are having their events and you can find them in the steppers perpetual events calendar. I hope everyone will see the vision and help celebrate the dance on that day in what ever city they are in on the 14th of August.
