"If
you qualified for the "Out of Town" category in the World's Largest
Steppers Competition (WLSC), you're going to Chicago." That's the
statement Majestic Gents CEO Pete Frazier made this morning noting
the exception made to the "Official Rules".
Frazier also hinted there is a possibility of more changes in the
rules in this aspect for the other categories as well. Pointing to
the economy and the cost of air travel Mr. Frazier explained,
"Contestants, their families, and friends need to be able to make
travel arrangements... and waiting for the last minute can be very
expensive in booking airfare, hotels and so on." The most up to date
official scores are posted on
WLSContest.Com including this
weekend's semi-finals in Los Angeles.
The final round of semi-finals (in Chicago) will start tomorrow
(Tuesday) at Mr. G's with the last beginners category contestants
hitting the floor attempting to qualify for the finals in September
in Tinley Park, IL. Chicago's Fox television (channel 32) will be at
the semi-final to capture the competition as well. This is the time
when the competition usually heats up (during the last semi-finals).

It was another busy weekend for Markie Bee this last weekend as on
Saturday I made my first visit to the Maywood racetrack where the
Ultimate Steppers Connection was celebrating their one year
anniversary. DJ's Roy Shannon and Eric E.T. Taylor were the DJ's. With
the weather and two other big parties happening that night, I came to
the track with low expectations, but was happily surprised to see the
place fill up as the night progressed. Chicago style steppers make it
out to dance is sort of like the postal services motto... rain or snow;
they make their appointed rounds to step! The place is gigantic and
could easily set up to handle a crowd of a thousand. The only drawback
as I see it is there's no wooden floor to dance on. Other than that it
was a nice party and I enjoyed my time there. The photos are posted in
the photos section. You may also notice I am now placing a Facebook
"Like button" in the photo albums so you can "like" and comment on the
photos or event.
Sunday was Shine Entertainment's day to shine for Sunshine's birthday
party. This year's party was an '80's themed event and there were quite
a few people decked out in the garish garb (mostly shocking pinks and
greens) that seemed to prevail in the party scene from that decade.
The Shine army of women not only filled the place up but took all of the
party tasks well in hand from the barbecue (after G. Porgy burned his
hands while cooking) to serving the food and decorating the place. It's
no secret, I would have like to have seen the party at another location
because of the Players Choice just isn't laid out for this type event
but you have to hand it to Sunshine and her army for pulling it off. The
only real glitch of the night was when DJ Stevo was mixing house music
and his system seemed to keep causing a disconnect in the system causing
the music to stop several times during his time as DJ. The photos are
posted in the photos section.
