WORD OF MOUTH ENTERTAINMENT, LLC. THE QUAD CITY STEPAGANZA Memorial
Day Weekend 3rd Annual Fashion Show and Benefit May 27-31st, 2010 Steppers Electioneering
I learned yesterday that the SteppersUSA Daily newsletter (The
Steppers Beat) has been nominated for a People's Choice
award. Thank you to those who nominated me! As I mentioned in an
earlier column, I wasn't going to lobby to get nominated… and I
didn't. I also said if I got nominated I'd recognize it and do what
I can to win.
I can't buy your votes (even though it's a Chicago tradition)
because I don't have any bribe money. So I decided to do it the old
fashioned way... I'll lobby for your votes. I'll remind you that the
SteppersUSA Daily newsletter is the ONLY daily steppers
newsletter in existence and always has been and it's into the
third volume.
Please vote for us! People always tell me that I should be
recognized for what I do… Please vote for us! Where else do you get
all of the events plus "snappy content" in the one and only
Steppers Beat column?
Please vote for us! Hmmm let's see I can be like a politician
too (by making promises I can't/won't keep)… I promise to give jobs
to everyone who wants to work…
if
you vote for us! I'll go to every out of town event (LOL… I
can't even get a ride to GA for the Heritage Ball) …
if
you vote for us! Oh! I know… I'll give away a trip to Buenos
Aries for Carnival (That's for the guys vote) …
if
you vote for us!
So much for having fun with electioneering… Just asking…
please vote for the SteppersUSA Daily newsletter in the Peoples
Choice awards.
Bridge Building
Hopefully, SteppersUSA can become an "online bridge" for more "new
blood" with a different approach to exposing the dance to the masses.
The first move we will make is bringing a new regular feature into
SteppersUSA (and it has nothing to do with this years Peoples Choice
awards -
VOTE) and I feel it's a great step (pun intended) toward appealing
to a broader audience of steppers and non-steppers alike. I'm readying
the graphics and waiting for the rest to fall into place for its debut.
I've been mentioning we need to be able to open up this
historically closed community to the rest of the world so over the
next months we're going to be broadening the scope of SteppersUSA.Com.
As Chicago style stepping moves into a new phase of continued growth
and a new level of maturity I see a definite need to create a new and
better experience for those who haven't encountered this genre in the
past.
There are plenty of existing resources on the web and on the street for
steppers today and the number of those resources continues to grow. As
always; SteppersUSA will point you to the websites, lessons, workshops
and events. Everything we do will be in addition to our existing
offering.
If you want to be a part of a driving force to educate the rest of the
world about Chicago style stepping and would like to participate through
writing, photos, video or other means please drop an email my way so we
can talk. ISA News
Thursday night I got an email from The International Steppers Association
(ISA).
They have an official date for their official signing and charter. It's
going to be on June 26, 2010 in Washington DC. Here's the email: The International Steppers Association is fast approaching the
signing of its inaugural bi-laws and constitution. The purpose of the
ISA is to assist in the promotion and furtherance of the dance
internationally. We will culminate our efforts in hosting an official
recognition chartering ceremony on 26 June 2010 in Washington DC. We
would like to invite your participation in this effort as you are the
local Steppers, promoters, teachers that represent Steppin in the
greater Metro complex. The day will consist of a business meeting in the
morning followed by the recognition ceremony in the early afternoon or
evening. If you would like to participate in any capacity, we would like
to hear your ideas and thoughts. The signing and presentation will be
documented in the local, regional and national media with a public news
release and photo opportunities. We encourage your feedback and thoughts
as we prepare for what is hoped to be a legacy trail of achievement for
Steppers for some time to come.
If we have left someone out in the invitation, please forward
accordingly to maximize acknowledgement.
We host a teleconference call each Sunday at 7pm EST. If you would like to
call in this Sunday, 7 February 2010 at 7pm please do so. Or simply
email us back for questions or comments.
Thank you for your participation in advance.
On behalf of ISA members,
T. Dweylan Wilson
President
