Steppers Be Careful!
Here I go talking about the weather again! Only because the East coast is and has been getting a major snow event (They're using the name that the local Chicago news people on the morning show have been using for the last two years… "Snowmageddon"). If you're in one of the afflicted areas and there's a steppers event scheduled be sure to contact the venue or the promoters to make sure the event is still happening.
I know you want to step but remember safety comes first!
JEP Productions Set
I went to JEP Productions steppers set at Club Dyamonds last night (Not just because they're

advertisers) but because I had heard people talking about the set. The weather had a big effect (blowing snow) but otherwise it was a nice set and the music was 100% steppers.
The 1st and 3rd Friday set has been slowly growing over the last few weeks and even though the roads were a mess a few people made it to the club to party. I took a few photos and they're in the photos section of the site.
There was one guy there who really wasn't a Chicago style stepper but I was amused with his style. He would start the girl into a turn and run around her stopping her in mid turn then start turning her the other way and repeating the process.
It's funny how I find ways to be entertained on a slow snowy evening. The guy had energy and skills and the ladies he was dancing with were laughing with him (not at him) the whole dance.
Joney and Easy Alcorn
Long time friends Easy and Joney Alcorn were in the club and I spent some time talking with them. The last time I saw them was at the first 219 steppers event at the Genisis center since they left that group.
At the time they told me that they were putting together their own production company to do their own parties. Well, with his typical amiable style Easy walked up to me and handed me a plugger. I looked up from the plugger to see a big old smile on his face!
Easy and Joney Productions is a reality and their first big party will be a pre-Easter "Steppers Extravaganza" at the Radisson Holiday Star in Merrillville Indiana in the west celebrity room on April 3rd with DJ Lavelle C on the box.
Once you know this couple you learn they are very opinionated about our steppers culture and how it relates to the future of the dance. Easy asked I didn't say too much about what he is going to say at the event because he wants to address the crowd in his own way and I will respect his wishes.
I'm definitely going to be at this party but not just because I've known Joney and Easy for many years but because I know they know how to put a party together better than many of the other promoters out there.
Tonight I'll be at
De Ja Vu's party at the Burbank Manor to help celebrate Suave Larry's birthday.
ISA News
Thursday night I got an email from The International Steppers Association (ISA). They have an official date for their
official signing and charter. It's going to be on June 26, 2010 in Washington DC. Here's the email:
The International Steppers Association is fast approaching the signing of its inaugural bi-laws and constitution. The purpose of the ISA is to assist in the promotion and furtherance of the dance internationally. We will culminate our efforts in hosting an official recognition chartering ceremony on 26 June 2010 in Washington DC. We would like to invite your participation in this effort as you are the local Steppers, promoters, teachers that represent Steppin in the greater Metro complex. The day will consist of a business meeting in the morning followed by the recognition ceremony in the early afternoon or evening. If you would like to participate in any capacity, we would like to hear your ideas and thoughts. The signing and presentation will be documented in the local, regional and national media with a public news release and photo opportunities. We encourage your feedback and thoughts as we prepare for what is hoped to be a legacy trail of achievement for Steppers for some time to come.
If we have left someone out in the invitation, please forward accordingly to maximize acknowledgement.
We host a teleconference call each Sunday at 7pm. If you would like to call in this Sunday, 7 February 2010 at 7pm please do so. Or simply email us back for questions or comments.
Thank you for your participation in advance.
On behalf of ISA members,
T. Dweylan Wilson
President
