WORD OF MOUTH ENTERTAINMENT, LLC. THE QUAD CITY STEPAGANZA Memorial
Day Weekend 3rd Annual Fashion Show and Benefit May 27-31st, 2010 Good News Department...
From all of the reports I've seen and heard; the Heritage Ball
Weekend extravaganza seems to have met or exceeded most people's
expectations. I get "daily quotes of the day" and today's quote from
Friedrich Engels "An ounce of action is worth a ton of theory." Goes
to show lot's of planning and good old hard work can yield a
memorable event that's unforgettable in a way you would want it to
be. Be sure to check our
photos section.
I'm sure unforeseen situations did crop up at the event, but it
appears they were handled quickly and efficiently. The reason I say
that is because I know I would have heard from some disgruntled
stepper or seen a post (or many posts) on Facebook pointing out
every little thing that was wrong.
When I read Terrance Pratt (Chistepper.Com)
saying, "GDI pulled out all of the stops and managed to
pull off what was the most fabulous Steppers weekend I've attended
in all my years of Steppin'." I know it was one helluva event. Time To Make A Choice...
There's just a
little over two days left for you to choose what the date is for the
National Chicago Style Steppers Day events.
Be sure to
go and vote to make yourselves heard.
We've made a lot of progress in gaining representatives in cities from
coast to coast we're still looking for representatives from North
Carolina, Wisconsin,
and Washington State. You don't
have to be a Facebook user to be a representative and it doesn't matter
if you're old skool or new skool. It's all about honoring the dance and
those who do the dance.
People ask me why I always seem to set goals that seem
unattainable and unrealistic (in some people's estimation). For
my answer I have to defer to my favorite company's outlook... that's
Google... "Google sets impossible bodacious goals... and then achieves
them." That's a quote I read at the top of a blog about the (more than)
search engine giant. Google's culture seems to follow the Thomas
Edison approach which paraphrased is "I haven't failed, I've just
found lots of approaches that don't work, and I am closer to the
solution".
Achieving 65% of the impossible is better than 100% of the
ordinary - Setting impossible goals and achieving part of them sets you
on a completely different path than the "safe route".
I make it no secret I'd like to see more innovation as well as a
shedding of much of the old worn out vestiges of the past (where if you
don't do what a particular clique does in a way they won't let you play)
attitudes.
We're a decade into the twenty first century and I still see and hear
about selfish and exclusionary tactics and they don't just happen in
Chicago. It's time we all come together at least for one day a year to
celebrate our dance and each other. That's why I'm asking everyone to
climb out on this limb with me and try to bring everyone together.
