I saw a quote the other day that just made me thinkā€¦ "Computer games don't affect kids, I mean if Pac Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music." Anyone who grew up in the second half of the twentieth century should be able to appreciate the quote.
You either eat or starve. The beginning of the month is always hectic but today my plate is overflowing. It's my son's birthday today (he's my youngest and he turned 30 on this Groundhog Day) which just makes me feel grateful that I've lived to see him turn (physically) into an adult. We have to do something together at some point today.
I've got another YouTube video "in the can" that needs editing, and some steppers videos to shoot this evening as well. I have another ad design to do as well as my monthly billing and

a splitting headache. You have to love it!
Some people would say that's just too much to do in one day, but I feel the road to success presents the occasional traffic jam and you have to deal with them as you approach them.
In many ways we face many of the same levels of challenges in Chicago style stepping in so many forms. I remember writing a couple of years ago about how steppers were beginning to fill out the calendar year with events. It wasn't that long ago there weren't that many things happening on the national steppers scene in January, February, and March. Just look at the calendar now! Since the groundhog saw his shadow we have six more weeks of winter (we do anyway) but steppers are now dancing the Super bowl and the NBA all star weekends away.
Valentines Day was always a little more than a blip on the steppers yearly calendar in the past; now if you want to take your sweetheart out to step there are so many steppers events happening you have a choice.
When Mardi Gras rolls around you can also step down in New Orleans and I'd expect over the next couple of years the idea of Mardi Gras stepping will be promoted in other cities as well.
The Heritage ball has turned out to be a major February steppers event where people from all over the country travel to Atlanta to be at this "must attend" event.
As you can see over the span of just a few years steppers have seen the challenge and have collectively raised the bar. I expect to see even more spring events popping up and into our collective "steppers consciousness" beyond the annual Memorial Day weekend extravaganzas. Let's seeā€¦ Easter stepping, Mothers Day stepping, Fathers Day steppingā€¦ and the list goes on!
