Large scale Chicago style steppers events are returning to Phoenix Arizona this spring as the AZ Southwest steppers have put together a three day weekend party this April 15th through 17th. The event will include three parties and workshops in the high desert of Phoenix and Tempe.
DJ Shorty Smooth has managed to put together a multi city contest for this spring also. It's called the "Steppin Idol" contest and it's made for people who want to get their contest weight up.
The Contest is designed to help contestants better prepare for competition by being open and receptive to constructive criticism from the judges, with the chance to review, correct and try again.

If you've won a contest before or if you've got lots of contest experience you'll be able to come and watch but you won't be allowed to participate. This contest has been going on in Milwaukee for a while now and Shorty Smooth has taken it on the road with stops in Rockford, IL, Waukegan, IL, Chicago, IL, Detroit, MI, Cleveland, OH, Minnesota, and Milwaukee, WI. If you want to host a prelim, you need to contact Shorty Smooth right away.
I have to say there is a real air of anticipation in the steppers community for the Heritage Ball in Atlanta which starts this week. I feel people are looking for the opportunity to cut loose at a really big event and it looks like people will be able to shake off some of those winter blahs at the event. Of course when there are heightened expectations for an event. That means there's more pressure to deliver a great party experience. Personally I can't wait to hear about peoples experiences at the affair.
Facebook Blurbs
While looking at the myriad of jumbled events on Facebook (the lack of any type of organization is amazing) I had to stop and take a breath when I saw an event titled, "Giving up Facebook for Lent". The fact that I saw it ON Facebook gave me a chuckle (don't ask me why).
Jeff Clark posted that he had finally gotten rid of a lot of the garbage from his profile he didn't want there but forgot how he did it. I let him know how he did it (as a public service) I got some emails on that so I'll share the "secret" with you… In privacy settings turn off "Allow friends to post on my Wall". It will still allow comments but stops the pillows and gifts garbage that can become extremely annoying to many people (including me).
National Chicago Style Steppers Day
Since yesterday was a holiday, there wasn't much action on the National Chicago Style Steppers Day as I expected. There a lot of people who don't even look at their email or even browse the web during a holiday.
We're looking to add representatives from cities like, Milwaukee, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Philadelphia, New York, Raleigh, Montgomery, Baton Rouge, Las Vegas, and Seattle to name a few. I'd like to see more people representing in Chicago too (considering how large the market is).
