With the New Year it's time to go to the local reader, Mama Czenee for some predictions for 2010 just like I have in years past.
It's easy to find her place of business, it's in the neighborhood and it's the house that has the red neon sign that simply says "READER". As I walk up to the door, it opens as her daughter lets me in saying," mama has been expecting you Markie. Come right in."
I walk into the darkened room and there sits the old lady with her back to me and the round table with the crystal ball sitting in the middle. The old lady is on the computer at the table in front of her. She turns the monitor off turns and says, "You know I had to check my website I got 2 million hits today." Its 2010 so I don't blame her for keeping up with technology!

for the steppers community in the New Year, do you. Let's take a look. Status Quo no more… Status Quo no more! Winds of change are blowing…" As the mystic hovered her hands over the cloudy orb they started to shake and lightning bolts appeared inside.
What kind of change? I asked as I watched the tempest inside the crystal ball continue to churn. "Change from outside… Status Quo no more… there will be no more fear" The old woman's hand steadied and the ball returned to its original clear state. As usual I was more confused after she made her pronouncements.
I already knew it would be a waste of time to ask her to explain her statements from previous visits. Only time will tell. The crystal ball darkened and Mama Czenee asked for her money. I paid her and left.
Last year the mystic said "there would be more" and 2009 definitely proved to be a year where more people learned and participated. 2009 was also a year where more people were involved in the premier event in Chicago style stepping, the WLSC weekend. In 2008 she predicted, "In 2008 a dancer will rise from the ranks in a city other than Chicago and catch national attention." And it happened.
I said it before, only time will tell.
