I'm
going to leave the Markie G song "I Wanna Go Steppin"
up for a while, because I really think it deserves to be listened to by
as many people as possible. As I said yesterday, I feel it's his best
steppers song yet. I went to the "Ultimate White Party" at the Sabre
Room Saturday night. I haven't been there in decades and forgot how large
the place is. The place can accommodate groups as large as 2000 (That's
500 more than Willow Brook) plus they have a raised stage that can be
very danceable. I mentioned it to Pete Frazier that he should consider
the site for at the very least a semi-final (if not the finals) of the
Worlds Largest Steppers Contest (WLSC). Tell me what you think about
that idea. Hit the bar with your thoughts. The place got a little warm
(It was cold outside), but not hot as the place was packed for last
nights party. I took close to 500 photos despite a nagging backache, so
you know the set was good. I'll try and get the photos posted by Monday
as I have a busy schedule today. I ran into Preston of V.I.P.
Productions and he gave me the flyer for the next
"Main Event"
at the Tinley Park Convention Center is set for July 11th. Here's a
little nugget from the back side of the flyer; their next event will be
a New Years Eve Party! The plugger is online on our comprehensive
events
calendar page as well as nine other new flyers. Please, if you see me at
an event and you are plugging, don't walk by me without giving me your
plugger. If you look on the front page you will see the count of CURRENT
pluggers and events listed on SteppersUSA. If I were to count all of the
flyers we have had on the site since we originally started putting them
on the site a couple of years ago, there would be over 2000 pluggers and
over 15000 events tallied… But like I said we only count current stuff
on SteppersUSA and that's what really counts. OK, SO FAR it looks
like D'Elegance isn't going to have a contest, Orbies is, and now,
Giovanni's, in Dolton, IL is getting into the contest game too. they are
going head to head (on Thursdays) with Orbies with their own $1800
Steppers contest. They are having semi-finals every Thursday and Sunday
starting May 24th ending with finals on June 28th. Steppers can get into
both contests since there is a Sunday semi final at Giovanni's and
Orbies only semi's are on Thursdays. That's $4300 total for the taking
steppers! Time to go to work! People like to have a
choice and see what's happening today. If you would like to join
SteppersUSA in Twitter or just to check it out, you'll see the twitter
bird just below our logo. Just click on the twitter bird and it will
bring you right to the

This is an open message to ALL steppers. Please share it with as many people as possible.
As many of you may already know I started a new web
site for the benefit of the greater steppers community. It's called
History of Stepping Project. I wish to encourage you to add your
knowledge to the timeline. If you know anything about stepping, please
share this with the public on this site. We are looking for all
information related to stepping from it's beginnings to the present. The
information literally includes everything from clubs and bars which held
steppers sets and parties to contests and the participants and results,
to when different steppers organizations and classes started, who the
instructors were and are; Musical bands, and artists, DJ's, radio and
television personalities, Movies, videos, and photos… literally
everything stepping.
Creating an accurate historic timeline will go a long
way toward helping the community take the next step in its logical
progression as it continues to grow nationwide and will become a
valuable resource for all in the future.
Your input, your knowledge and your effort have made the dance what it
is today. Don't you feel your place (and your organization's) in the
timeline is well deserved? I do!
Please send an email to your members or readers inviting them to
participate. Place a link on your web site also please. All support is
appreciated!
The effort requires more than just posting the information. The need for fact checkers, people willing to do some research exists in this important ongoing project. Just a few minutes a week can make a difference.
Thank You for your time!
