Remember back in March and April I talked about and even took a poll about the use of Twitter? To be honest, the poll didn't really provide very encouraging results. My research didn't offer much positive reinforcement considering the ratio of dropouts from Twitter after the initial sign-up. Nonetheless, after carefully considering all of the factors available to me; I decided to "go with my gut feeling" that Twitter could enhance the site and be of benefit to the greater Chicago style steppers community as a result. It can be a perfect companion to the Friend Connect Bar. SteppersUSA is now on Twitter.
If you’re looking for tweets from me like, "I just drank some coffee" or "Listening to "Some Song" by Some Artist while working on a website." you won't find that. I want to use the Twitter account for something different.
Sometimes I have something I want to share, but it’s a day or two before I can write about it in my column (for example, one day I might hear some really big news that shouldn't wait but the circumstances prevent me from putting it on the site right away) I can send a tweet.
Sometimes I need input on an idea and I need it really quickly.
Sometimes I need your opinion on something I’m thinking of doing, or something I want to add to a portion of the website, or something I’m thinking of doing something different, and I need a direct connection for feedback.
Sometimes I need to get the word out about something and I need your help spreading the word.
Sometimes I want to find out how you feel about a particular topic I’m thinking about writing an article about it. Sometimes I want to gauge the general feeling about a controversial topic I might be tackling, and want to hear what you think before I make it public.
But for this to work, it has to be a two-way street, right? So, for your help and input, here’s my end of the deal:
I’ll give you advance notice on all sorts of things I’m working on, including new articles or online stuff I’m developing; when steppers music tracks are hitting stores, or anything cool coming down the road. Perhaps it's a new steppers video, or a nice photo album I found on the web, or news of a new Chicago style steppers convention.
I’ll give you the inside early notice on anything where I wouldn’t be violating an embargo or an NDA (non-disclosure agreement).
I’ll keep an eye out for anything else that I think you’d want to check out, and I’ll share those with you.
You’ll learn things on Twitter before it goes live on SteppersUSA.Com, and I’ll discuss things that aren’t necessarily right for the site.
I’ll respect your time and won’t abuse this pipeline between us. My tweets will be short and sweet, and to the point.
I also won’t be tweeting every day, or on any regular schedule at all. When I’ve got something to share, or need your input, that’s when you’ll hear from me, so I won’t become a high-maintenance twitter nuisance.
One more thing: I will do my best to make sure if you do follow me, I’ll make it worth your while.
Now you know the scoop, and if that all sounds like something you’d be in to, I invite you to follow SteppersUSA by clicking here.
Hey, by the way; at lunch today, I had a really great cup of coffee (just kidding—-that was a “Stunt Tweet,” just to see if you were really paying attention).  Have comments? Hit the Bar!

As many of you may already know I started a new web site for the benefit of the greater steppers community. It's called History of Stepping Project. I wish to encourage you to add your knowledge to the timeline. If you know anything about stepping, please share this with the public on this site. We are looking for all information related to stepping from it's beginnings to the present. The information literally includes everything from clubs and bars which held steppers sets and parties to contests and the participants and results, to when different steppers organizations and classes started, who the instructors were and are; Musical bands, and artists, DJ's, radio and television personalities, Movies, videos, and photos… literally everything stepping.
Creating an accurate historic timeline will go a long way toward helping the community take the next step in its logical progression as it continues to grow nationwide and will become a valuable resource for all in the future.
Your input, your knowledge and your effort have made the dance what it is today. Don't you feel your place (and your organization's) in the timeline is well deserved? I do!
Please send an email to your members or readers inviting them to participate. Place a link on your web site also please. All support is appreciated!

The effort requires more than just posting the information. The need for fact checkers, people willing to do some research exists in this important ongoing project. Just a few minutes a week can make a difference.

    Thank You for your time!
