Today's Steppers Beat Column is sponsored by: Chosen Productions Return of The Dungeon Continues $1000  Steppers Contest at Gentle Persuasion at 8959 S. Ashland Ave. Chicago, IL.
You can't take shortcuts. Doing it the right way will pay off every time. You hear it all of the time when it comes to learning the dance. Having a solid background with the basic pattern in your back pocket will take you places.
But what about promotion are the same rules true? Well for the most part I would say there is no substitute for good old fashioned work. Basics are basics.
In the past, I've made a pretty good case for using the web as a promotion tool. You can reach a mass audience very quickly using a variety of web tools including both free and paid solutions. As with any tool, the tool is only useful if it is used correctly.
There can be pitfalls to the web only approach though. Data informs us of how many people we can theoretically reach during a given time period. Do people really look at the flyers we send to their inboxes or do they just throw them away? Banner advertising on a website provides some data because they give you just enough information to peek your interest and you have to click the ad to get

more information.
The extended data can give us the demographics via age groups served, gender, etc. but the reality of the situation though, usually isn't taken into account by most people who are advertising a set, a class or an event.
It's seen as an expedite way to get the word out. Something to remember; if you have a thousand people in an email list, you are advertising to a thousand people.
These are the same people you advertised to yesterday. The old axiom of advertising is, "If you have a market today, there's no guarantee you'll have one tomorrow". While it's fine to advertise to your core audience, even recommended...
Using a social market like Facebook, Twitter, or MySpace gives you an audience, but it's an audience limited to your "friends" registered on the site. On top of that, Facebook places a ceiling on the number of friends you can have on their site.
It's just as important to be constantly expanding your audience. You can do some of that on the web, but the real grunt work, the work on the streets is necessary to make your efforts pay off. Sending a plugger via email isn't the same as handing a plugger or flyer to someone and personally inviting them to come to your event, set, or class.
Real customer service isn't all about the numbers. Just like service in a club isn't all about the numbers. Just like emailing 20,000 pluggers doesn't guarantee a good turn out at an event.
The web can build excitement to a percentage of your audience about your event, but it still comes down to "pressing the flesh".
Those are the "basics" each promoter must have in their arsenal just like a stepper needs their basics. Human interaction is what sells.

There has been a lot of talk about iNVITE5 and Multi-Level Marketing. In yesterday's conference call Royce Banks dispels those myths as he explains the opportunity we all have to get ahead of the curve with i5. I have a copy of the conference call below for you to listen to. If you haven't signed up you need to get some of this money just click here to get started.

Please use this link to get started and learn more: www.joini5.com/steppersusa

The sign-up appears after a short series of slides right on the first page.

After you have signed up:

Go to “Downloads” on the main navigation menu, and download your customized toolbar. Now, if you have Internet Explorer, you might not see any Ads yet. However, if you have Mozilla Firefox, you should be able to start rating 3rd party Ads immediately, which will pay you 3/10 cents immediately. Yes, it’s a small amount (and right now it's training), but you get that amount for all of your friends up to 7 levels. Once the 10 cent Ads hit next week sometime (I'll be sure to update as we're working with the developers), your organization will already be off and running!

Trust me; time is money, so get on it right away!

A Message To All Steppers

Please copy the message below and send it on to as many steppers as you can please!

This is an open message to ALL steppers. Please share it with as many people as possible.

As many of you may already know I started a new web site for the benefit of the greater steppers community. It's called History of Stepping Project. I wish to encourage you to add your knowledge to the timeline. If you know anything about stepping, please share this with the public on this site. We are looking for all information related to stepping from it's beginnings to the present. The information literally includes everything from clubs and bars which held steppers sets and parties to contests and the participants and results, to when different steppers organizations and classes started, who the instructors were and are; Musical bands, and artists, DJ's, radio and television personalities, Movies, videos, and photos… literally everything stepping.
Creating an accurate historic timeline will go a long way toward helping the community take the next step in its logical progression as it continues to grow nationwide and will become a valuable resource for all in the future.
Your input, your knowledge and your effort have made the dance what it is today. Don't you feel your place (and your organization's) in the timeline is well deserved? I do!
Please send an email to your members or readers inviting them to participate. Place a link on your web site also please. All support is appreciated!

The effort requires more than just posting the information. The need for fact checkers, people willing to do some research exists in this important ongoing project. Just a few minutes a week can make a difference.

Thank You for your time!
