There are certain things I look at over time that gives me hope for the future of this dance on the business level. One of those things I look at is the calendar... How far in advance are organizers and promoters scheduling their major steppers events?  Note this isn't a real scientific approach, because the opinions are based on submissions and information on the perpetual calendar used on this site. I may be missing information for many reasons, I haven't seen a plugger, the info hasn't been submitted to SteppersUSA, some people may have plans, but haven't released that information yet... The reasons can go on and on, so I make my conclusions from what I've got... So far. They (The promoters) must be watching the calendar and are planning their events with more of an eye toward when others are scheduling events nationwide. Perhaps it's the example set by the Chicago Steppers Convention (CSCSteps.Com), where initially VIP Productions, Dreamgirls, and the Majestic Gents all scheduled events conflicting with each other and finally put their collective events into one nicely rolled up package, showing steppers can cooperate when they put their minds to it. One thing that bugs me though, There are a few steppin' for Obama events around the country... Why not in Chicago? Election time is a wonderful opportunity to expose more people to stepping and can translate into more steppers, which translates to more dates on the calendar, and we all know how loudly the almighty buck speaks.
