Bunches of Steppers News

Every once in a while there is a bunch of news and interesting stuff
that either finds it's way into my inbox or I see it on the web and it
needs to be in the Steppers Beat column. Either I don't have the time to
devote a full column to it, or I can't think of anything to say (very
rare).
Wanna be on TV?
An Idea to float... Every Friday morning on NBC 5 in Chicago there is a
segment that airs at 6:50 am which they call
Dance Friday. They have an open invitation, "Join us outside of
Studio 5, on North Michigan Avenue at the Chicago River, at about 6:50
a.m. on Friday --- and move to the groove before heading off to the
office or on your errands. No experience is necessary, although we won't
turn any professionals away, either." They say REAL steppers can
dance to anything... this is a way to prove it on Television (and the
web) and to perhaps get some more people interested in the dance we all
love. Are there any enterprising steppers out there willing to show off
on television?
Here's the page at NBC5.Com. Is there something like this in your
city? Opportunity is Knocking!
Certification Webinar
I got this from Tanya Nash in my email yesterday, so if you are
interested in certification, this may be a good first step:
The Chicago Style Steppin Instructor Training Introduction Webinar will
be available for viewing on Sunday at 11:00pm CST until Monday 11:00pm
CST. It is approximately 32 minutes in length and covers the
introductory material to the standard level I training workshop.
You must follow instructions or your registration will not be received.
The complete instructions will be posted just above the the video itself
at:
http://learnonline.teachmetostep.info The topic states:
"...Training and Certification Webinar."
If you have any questions about the process or need help accessing the
training video, please call me directly 773-407-7344 as this is a
requirement to participate in training sessions A and B (June and
September 2008).
It's the economy!
The early figures are out about the holiday weekend and travel as
reported on all of the news outlets. It looks like up to 12% of the
people who planned to go out of town on the holiday decided to cancel
their plans and stay home and have a "staycation". Many more just
decided to stay home without making plans because of the economy. If you
will remember last months SteppersUSA poll, 32% of you said the economy
would have an effect on your activities. Of course 68% of the
respondents just said "Party ON"!

simple yes, no or Contact me about customers ordering tickets directly

your advance ticket sales all from one place. Think about it. Thousands
come to this site every day looking at events and making plans. It's
convenient for the customer and you make money! Don't have a FREE Pay
Pal business account? Not a problem!
Just click Here! Even if you already have a website it only makes
sense to add a Pay Pal Button to SteppersUSA to increase the possibility
of a sale. Customers can use any credit card including Visa, Master

This is an open message to ALL steppers. Please share it with as many people as possible.
As many of you may already know I started a new web
site for the benefit of the greater steppers community. It's called
The History of Stepping Project. I wish to encourage you to add your
knowledge to the timeline. If you know anything about stepping, please
share this with the public on this site. We are looking for all
information related to stepping from it's beginnings to the present. The
information literally includes everything from clubs and bars which held
steppers sets and parties to contests and the participants and results,
to when different steppers organizations and classes started, who the
instructors were and are; Musical bands, and artists, DJ's, radio and
television personalities, Movies, videos, and photos… literally
everything stepping.
Creating an accurate historic timeline will go a long
way toward helping the community take the next step in its logical
progression as it continues to grow nationwide and will become a
valuable resource for all in the future.
Your input, your knowledge and your effort have made the dance what it
is today. Don't you feel your place (and your organization's) in the
timeline is well deserved? I do!

appreciated!
The effort requires more than just posting the information. The need for fact checkers, people willing to do some research exists in this important ongoing project. Just a few minutes a week can make a difference.
