Nice Dream-Bad Dream
By Markie Bee

Once again Terrance Pratt and ChiSteppers.Com broke another big controversial cover story, this time concerning elements which would make a made-for-TV Mini-series and to boot it's not centered in Chicago for a change, it's all about the people who promote and manage the "Steppin to Kings Dream" mega parties.
Being The Master of the obvious, Sounds like there will be 2 events next year in LA.. "Steppin' for A Dream" (and) "Steppin to Kings Dream 4" Of course the acrimony between Lana and Lorenzo would dictate each event should be held at the same time just to prove to the world that the steppers community can hate enough on each other to self-destruct both events (Which is exactly what they are doing according to their respective press releases/newsletters). Of course, If this is done correctly (in a business sense) each event would be held months apart especially because the events both need support from steppers across the country (LA's steppers community needs national support because frankly there's not enough going on there on a regular basis to handle a large scale event yet). In the end then, it could be a lemons to lemonade situation where everyone gets what they want. After all how many great parties started because of situations which were in some ways similar to this? As it stands right now, it's a case of double party suicide where no one (especially the steppers community) wins.
Unless (there are always alternatives)... the steppers in LA step up starting right now and grow their community (which in a large metropolitan area like Los Angeles isn't out of the question). Many things happen virtually overnight in LA LA land. So it's up to you LA, can you be successful or will you let the status quo ride?
But when the dust settles, this can be all chalked up to yet another case of (bar/venue) owner vs. promoter. Anyone who has had their ear to the rail knows this happens quite a bit in the business world of clubs and promotion. The simple (obvious) solution would have had a third party handle all of the financial end while the "board of directors" makes the decisions (multi signature checks too). But once again the stepping community has problems being a "business like" entity. If there is theft involved, then perhaps the authorities should have been called or litigation should have been pursued.
Public accusations of theft!!! In yesterday's ChiSteppers.Com interview Lonzo said, ""She was trying to steal all of the money this year. And now she’s trying to steal the whole event. You can quote me on that. I don’t bite my tongue doc. Anything that I say to you, I’ll say it to her face."
There will be more about this I'm sure, but if there's proof to the theft (of funds) call the cops! At some point everyone in the steppers community must be able to stand up to scrutiny like every other legitimate business in the country. That's called C.Y.A.! I invite any involved party to comment right here, just

Support the History of Stepping Project

Please copy the message below and send it on to as many steppers as you can please!

This is an open message to ALL steppers. Please share it with as many people as possible.

As many of you may already know I started a new web site for the benefit of the greater steppers community. It's called The History of Stepping Project. I wish to encourage you to add your knowledge to the timeline. If you know anything about stepping, please share this with the public on this site. We are looking for all information related to stepping from it's beginnings to the present. The information www.steppershistory.orgliterally includes everything from clubs and bars which held steppers sets and parties to contests and the participants and results, to when different steppers organizations and classes started, who the instructors were and are; Musical bands, and artists, DJ's, radio and television personalities, Movies, videos, and photos… literally everything stepping.

Creating an accurate historic timeline will go a long way toward helping the community take the next step in its logical progression as it continues to grow nationwide and will become a valuable resource for all in the future.
Your input, your knowledge and your effort have made the dance what it is today. Don't you feel your place (and your organization's) in the timeline is well deserved? I do!
Please send an email to your members or readers inviting them to participate. Place a link on your web site also please. All support is appreciated!

The effort requires more than just posting the information. The need for fact checkers, people willing to do some research exists in this important ongoing project. Just a few minutes a week can make a difference.

Thank You for your time!

Let's look at the comic and number them from the left (Couple dancing) 1 through 4. Then imagine what the lady in the photo might be thinking or saying in the next three panels. Then Send us an email with what you think should be in the bubbles (just like REAL cartoons). I'll post the cartoon with the results I think is funniest, most thought provoking, or most applicable to the steppers community.
