[9/15/2007 SteppersUSA News] We get email, Tons of email
every day. The amount of email has grown exponentially, just like the
the size of this newsletter list. Since we are a week from the
World's Largest Steppers Contest, I decided to publish a suggestion from
one of our readers concerning contest's:Is
There A Way To Eliminate All The Drama And Controversy For Future
Steppers
Contest? After observing a WLSC a few years back, I became very
excited and eager to learn how to step. I searched high and low
until I found an instructor who offered a class that was most convenient
for me. I thought this was a way for mature adults to get out and
really enjoy ourselves, yes I did say, mature adults.
What I didn’t realize was all the bickering, controversy,
drama and gossiping that goes on either after the Steppers Contest
is over or before the actual contest begins. This year the drama is all
about who is a certain age and who isn’t. Mature adults?
I thought this was a great idea (even though I’m from the CHI)
that the Majestic Gents came up with an Out of Town Category and
eliminated the 39 and under. What if age categories were eliminated
altogether?
Some new categories will probably bring some
new faces to the WLSC and other contests in addition to the
contestants that we see year after year. This will probably bring out
some of the steppers who have a desire to compete but wouldn’t dare go
up against those that have been around and competing for years. How
about the following categories based on experience:
1-3 or 5 years stepping - original steppers, walkers and trios
5-10 years stepping - original steppers, walkers and trios
10 years plus stepping - original steppers, walkers and trios
Maybe even a real category for those "free-stylers"
Again, just a thought.
Eager to Step
Do you have any thoughts? Do you like this idea? Can you improve on this
idea?
