Time Marches On

From Detroit...
Prayers and Condolences go out to Myron of "The Goodfellaz",
Makoyia the waitress at Cuzins, and Mareo (lil brother) in the loss of
their father, Myron L. Jenkins Sr. who passed away on Saturday morning
after suffering from a serious illness.
D. J. Darren (and about 20 other people) sent an email letting us know
West Suburban Productions set is moving to Wednesdays Starting February
6th at Mariella's Banquet Hall. If you remember, they've been doing the
set on Thursdays. Everyone knows now!
Watch out Gary Indiana! Jerry and Ann are getting ready to bring some
real new skool stepping game
to town as they get ready to set up shop in town. I know they have real
solid basics in their back pockets... so they are going to step up the
game in the G.I. More on this next month!
Development and design has started in TYKMYN's new web site. Videos have
been and are being shot, photos have been and are being taken, and if
all goes right, in January you will see and learn from a modern day
master on line. I'll let you know when the site is live!
For
those of you who care, I'll be at the
1st Steppin Contest of The Year at
the
Lexington House on New Years Day to shoot the video of the contest. This
is the contest where the winners are crowned by the applause of the
crowd. That means no judges to blame other than your own self! Steppin
Luther has the call out to all steppers (Winners get paid cash money)
there will be 1st through 4th place winners... No pre registration.
Register when you get there. Get that money!
Tomorrow, the big list of New Years Eve Parties will be in this
newsletter so if you haven't made up your mind yet as to where to go,
you have to look no farther than your inbox.
Today on the
History of Stepping Project

hours of live recordings used in the first internet Podcast of a
steppers set from the Razz Ma Tazz in it's better days. I'll be adding
more later... to start off I posted The Herb Kent series from July,

This is an open message to ALL steppers. Please share it with as many people as possible.
As many of you may already know I started a new web
site for the benefit of the greater steppers community. It's called
The History of Stepping Project. I wish to encourage you to add your
knowledge to the timeline. If you know anything about stepping, please
share this with the public on this site. We are looking for all
information related to stepping from it's beginnings to the present. The
information
literally includes everything from clubs and bars which held
steppers sets and parties to contests and the participants and results,
to when different steppers organizations and classes started, who the
instructors were and are; Musical bands, and artists, DJ's, radio and
television personalities, Movies, videos, and photos… literally
everything stepping.
Creating an accurate historic timeline will go a long
way toward helping the community take the next step in its logical
progression as it continues to grow nationwide and will become a
valuable resource for all in the future.
Your input, your knowledge and your effort have made the dance what it
is today. Don't you feel your place (and your organization's) in the
timeline is well deserved? I do!

appreciated!
The effort requires more than just posting the information. The need for fact checkers, people willing to do some research exists in this important ongoing project. Just a few minutes a week can make a difference.
